Post Insurgency Recovery: Buni, Zulum in Japan, study Hiroshima Experience

The Executive Governors of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni and his Borno state counterpart, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum are undertaking a study tour in Japan to borrow from the Hiroshima recovery process of the post-1945 Atomic bomb destructions.

The study tour coordinated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Japanese International Coorperation Agency (JICA) was to equip Yobe, Borno, and Adamawa state governments with a sustainable post-insurgency recovery process.

Governors Buni, Zulum, and a representative of Adamawa state government noted that the Hiroshima experience would contribute to fast-tracking peace-building and recovery processes from the horrific Boko Haram insurgency in their respective states.

Governor Buni also discussed areas of interest to the state which include education, agriculture, humanitarian and livelihood support as well as youth empowerment and skills acquisition.

The delegation also had discussions on the Japan-Nigeria Parliamentary Friendship league, a lecture series on the history of Hiroshima, peace-building and recovery.

The governors paid a courtesy call on the Vice President of JICA, the Deputy Governor of Hiroshima city, and the Nigeria Ambassador to Japan.

Governor Buni was accompanied by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Abubakar Garba Iliya and the Managing Director of the North East Development Corporation (NEDC).

PRESIDENTIAL TICKET.

The Muslim-muslim ticket by APC has generated lots of concerns and vociferous outrage from mostly Nigerians of southern region and perhaps the Northern christian minority.  I honestly do understand why some persons feel scared about it, however, I refuse to validate or consolidate that fear for some reasons. APC is just one party, we have other parties in Nigeria. One of the beauties of democracy is the availability of options. Crying over APC's candidates in the midst of other candidates questions our readiness to change the status quo or our capacity to make and accept informed decisions. There's only one major reason behind the Muslim-muslim ticket by APC; electoral victory.  Without a Muslim VP, the APC will lose significant votes from the North and probably lose the entire presidency. This is the fear and the reason for a Muslim VP. Don't let anyone beguile you to make it a religious problem, if you do, you will keep losing the big picture.  I'll n...
